Hospital for Children

I’m certainly no great celebrity. I’m fortunate enough to have a busy performing schedule. Sure, I’ve done my fair share of local, national and international TV appearances and radio interviews on XM radio and national broadcasters.  That’s cool but end of the day I’m really just a working comedy magician. I specialize in corporate after dinner events. If you have ...

Where in the world is Matt

I am a magician. First, last and always.I work in comedy and am associated with being a comedian. I’m sold to clients and referred to as a comedian by many people, and agents but at its heart magician always comes first. In the show I’ll make you laugh. I will also amaze you at the end of each piece.  That’s the goal. Always leave them with a sense of wond...

Tech for Corporate Events

40 years ago today Sony released the Walkman.  It changed music and the way we interact with the world; or more to the point how we don’t interact with it.  Nothing was going to be the same after that first Walkman came out, a game changer.  Then Apple came along and changed the game again.  As I’m sure something will come to make the iPhone / iPod era look quaint and o...

Growth

In my 25 year career as a magician and comedian, someone for whom magic and comedy has taken around the globe, most of that work in corporate in nature.  Conferences, conventions, retreats.  Anywhere a company or group of companies has a meal, I can be entertaining after that meal. It’s been a remarkable journey.A product of my environment, I...

Charity Event

I’m performing at a charity event in Caledon Ontario next week. It’s rare for me to perform at these types of events, my schedule with corporate conference and convention performing, cruise ships and casinos rarely affords me the time to do something to help the community.  Its troubling because these are often the causes I believe in most. In this particular ...

Men of the Wall

Winter is here in Toronto, Canada.  2 hours with the snowblower digging out neighbours, minus 20 degree weather and I have frostbite on my face. Who settled this frozen wasteland of a country? Samuel de Champlain? Pierre Radisson? That wing nut from The Bay? Whichever one it was they deserve a giant kick in the b...

Nashville’s House of Cards

I just finished performing a week at the fabulous House of Cards in Nashville, TN. USA. As you can see by the photo, making an audience member laugh is the best thing a performer can do, the second best to have to have Carter the Great smell you're armpit. Its a long story. There were 28 shows in a week of packed theatres...

2019 Gratitude

It’s here.  I'm full of gratitude for 2019. I’m pretty stoked. 2018 was a year filled with awesome.  New friends, and new performing adventures. We had the whole family for holiday dinner at the house, my kid got another year older and I worked on a couple of fun new routines for the show.  I'...

Thank you~ last post of the year

Last post of 2018. A short one. I wanted to say that I’m SO VERY grateful to all the agents, event planners, producers, friends, theatres and cruise lines that booked me in 2018. I must say Holland America Line was a stand out this year. HAL took me to many interesting places in the world. It’s nice to get a Standing Ovation one night and then jog the beach in Hawaii the next. I always tel...

2019 : I Wonder Whats Gonna Happen

I have three shows left in 2018. Two corporate events and a performance at a resort north of Toronto. I think that’s about the right number. I’m looking forward to a break over the holidays. I’ve no idea how in my 20’s, I used to do 5 or 6 shows in a day in December and run all over Toronto doing them. Madness. I now make more money doing just 4 shows in December than I did when I was doing...
